Aluminata 130/4KE is a 2 1/2-way floor-standing loudspeaker with four mid-woofers arranged in a row. Two of these are used as mid-woofers; the other two complement the first two in the lower frequency range. The upper two mid-woofers have the Visaton dome in their center. Bass reflex was chosen as the housing's functional principle. The loudspeaker was developed by Bernd Timmermanns. In Aluminata 130/4KE, one Visaton KE25 SC ceramic dome is used per loudspeaker box and four Visaton AL 130s are used as woofers or mid-woofers. The crossover consists of a 4th order high pass (24 dB/octave) for the tweeter dome. A 3rd order low pass drives the mid-woofers, to which two further woofers are coupled via a 2nd order low pass at lower frequencies. One suction circuit smooths the frequency response of the Visaton AL 130. The frequency response of the loudspeaker is very balanced between 40 Hz and 15,000 Hz, with a slight loudness characteristic (middle reduction) and thus supporting spatial width. The decay spectrum is practically error-free below 20 kHz. The non-linear distortions at medium volumes (90 dB, 1m) are below 1% above 100 Hz.
The high-end kit contains an MKP capacitor instead of a smooth electrolytic capacitor. High-quality silver-gold-oil capacitors are used in series with the tweeter. The coils are designed as baked varnish air coils or as Mundorf cfc copper foil coils to reduce the microphonic effect (the current through the coil generates a magnetic field, which in turn sets the winding in motion. This movement induces voltages in the coil, which are added to the useful signal. The tighter the winding of the coil, the less the useful signal is distorted.)
