Merlin is a floor-standing loudspeaker with a broadband loudspeaker. Merlin is a bass reflex loudspeaker with a chassis from Tang Band. The kit contains a broadband loudspeaker Tang Band W5-2143. The loudspeaker was developed by Bernd Timmermanns. The crossover consists of three blocking circuits for reducing the mid and high frequencies. The frequency response of the loudspeaker is linear. The decay spectrum (waterfall spectrum) shows a delayed decay behavior in the lower mids. The non-linear distortions at medium volumes (90 dB, 1m) are below 0.5% above 200 Hz.

The high-end kit is equipped with baked enamel coils to reduce the microphonic effect (the current through the coil generates a magnetic field, which in turn sets the winding in motion. This movement induces voltages in the coil, which are added to the useful signal. The tighter the winding of the coil, the less the useful signal is distorted.) The capacitors for the broadband - where quality is particularly important - are high-quality Clarity Cap SA MKP capacitors with 630 V.
